Sad Day on Elk River – Herbert Hoover Highschool 1963-2016/18

September 17, 2018, 45 years after Herbert Hoover High School was
built, Loftis & Son Construction crew started the demolition of a land-marked school that was destroyed in the 2016 flood. It was bittersweet with knowing that a school that housed not only tens of thousands of students, but way more memories is being demolished. The one part that has been positive is that by 2021 there will be a state of art school built that will make Elk River Proud. Many was on hand to watch the demolition, reminisce of their memories with fellow classmates, and to take a brick for a souvenir, and to witness a historical event. Herbert Hoover might be down the Elk River a few miles, but it will house the same students, same teachers, and the same Elk River Pride that brings us all together. Elk River Strong!!!

Due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the area, and surrounding areas, we have decided to prolong the Printing of The County Times until it is safer to distribute the papers in businesses. We were hoping to be back by now, but the risks are too high. Please stay safe and hopefully we will be back soon.
Thank you, Sug Sams
